About ORC de Hazelaar

ORC de Hazelaar is a school complex commissioned by the municipality of Rotterdam and Rijndam Rehabilitation. The new complex has a total surface area of 13,000 square meters. The three institutions (Mytylschool De Brug, de Tyltylschool en Rijndam Revalidatie) that occupy the building will be able to join forces in the new building and make use of specific facilities, such as adapted gymnasiums and a swimming pool for children with disabilities to make the most of. The school complex offers education and the possibility of rehabilitation to children and young people aged 0 to 18.

Working efficiently while providing care with personal attention

Still, the challenge with a swimming pool always remains the occupancy. How do you deal with this efficiently and how do you offer everyone the proper attention and care they deserve? At ORC de Hazelaar, a deliberate choice was made to have two separate swimming pools, both with a movable pool floor. The small pool is excellent for one-to-one therapy, while the large pool is suitable for larger groups or classes.

The two pools are separated by a wall. This allows different groups to use the two swimming pools at the same time without interfering with each other. Because of the amount of stimuli, swimming with a large group of children is not desirable for everyone. In this way, it is possible to generate maximum occupancy of the pool without impairing rehabilitation or joy of swimming.
