Installing a movable pool floor is an excellent way for a commercial pool to do so. A movable pool floor is the perfect addition to any commercial pool. Whether it’s an Olympic pool, competition pool or public pool, with a movable pool floor you can easily set any pool depth you want (even to a level with no water!). The floor can be installed with a minimal built-in height 55-65 cm, so it can also be installed in existing pools.
This makes your pool multi-functional and allows you to attract a wider range of swimmers, and most important, you get more return on assets from your pool. To illustrate:
- 9.00 – Swimming lessons for children at a depth of 0.90 m;
- 11.00 – Aquajogging for the elderly at a depth of 1.20 m;

A movable pool floor enables you to adjust the water depth of your swimming pool according to your personal preferences. This increases safety for users, especially children. In a raised position the swimming pool is inaccessible for incorrect or unsupervised use.
We design custom made movable pool floors to accommodate and integrate our clients demands. As a result, our clients are not bound to standard dimensions or shapes.
In a raised position, the movable swimming pool floor ensures lower heating costs through insulation integrated in the floor. Since no dirt can enter the water and no chlorine evaporation takes place, there is a reduced use of chemicals. As a result, the energy requirement of the air treatment, if present, decreases and its lifespan extends.
Our technology enables us to use a minimal amount of moving parts, which reduces the costs and time of maintenance.
By using a floating principle, no technology will be visible either in or surrounding the pool. This is a major advantage from both an aesthetic and safety point of view.

Suitable for various commercial swimming pools
Olympic- and public swimming pools
Movable floors can be adapted to different setups, for example, the universal rule for Olympic pools used at the Olympic Games and World Championships is that the swimming depth is a minimum of 2.50 m. The benefit of a movable pool floor is that it can easily transform a facility from a 2.50 m deep pool for competitive swimming to a pool for water polo and other activities. This provides greater versatility, an asset to any owner of an Olympic facility.
A movable floor is almost vital in a modern day swimming pool. The installation of a movable floor or even multiple movable floors doubles the flexibility of the operator to allow the scheduling of different swimming lessons in the same pool at the same time. This will have a significant impact on the daily swimming program. For example, you will have a safe shallow pool for the very little ones one minute and a full sports and leisure pool for adults the next.
Hotels and spa's
Hotels can easily and quickly convert the swimming pool and re-purpose the space thanks to a movable floor. By raising the floor to its highest (closed) position, the floor deck can serve as a restaurant or as a stage for entertainment - the options are endless. Options for finishing the floor deck include natural stone, mosaic or ceramic tiles.
Option: movable pool floor for a section of the pool
The operator may have the desire to fit only part of the pool with a movable pool floor, so that it is possible to create two sections with different depths. This kind of requirement is often seen in large public-, Olympic- and competition pools.
Especially for these type of inquiries, Tieleman has developed the movable floor with hinged flap. With this solution, only part of the pool is fitted with a movable pool floor, for example up to half (25.00 m) or for a smaller part (12.00 m). The hinged flap seals off the open space between the movable pool floor and the rest of the pool. As a result, regardless of the position of the movable pool floor, it is impossible to end up under the floor and entrapment risks are eliminated. For example, if the movable pool floor is set to a depth of 0.80 m, the hinged flap also provides a gentle transition/slope to the deep swimming area. Thanks to this cost-efficient solution, every square meter of the pool is put to versatile use and a variety of water activities can be offered.

Steigenberger Airport Hotel, Amsterdam
Recently (2021) the technical room of the Steigenberger Airport Hotel was renovated. We replaced the entire water treatment installation. Thanks to the proportional control of the salt electrolysis, fluctuations in the chlorine value are kept to a minimum.
